The Sheffield City Airport then and now

Sheffield city airportSheffield airport was built in 1997.

The reliability of its railway then which was linked with London, made authorities think that they won’t need an airport.

It was only in the 1997 that an airport has been built in Sheffield, but it cannot operate commercially because of its short runway. Another reason for this is that it does not have radar. These shortcomings condemned the future of the airport since it was built.

Presently, plans of renovating the airport so that it can operate commercially are on queue. It will be developed in order to become promising.

well i think that if the government knew that the runway was too short it should never had been built. however, as it is it should be taken care of: expanded and given a ‘radar’ then comersial flights pakage and private flights could take off at the port. looking at plans of the airport it doesn’t look too difficult to expand the runway and its main terminal building. as for the airtraffic controll building, it is pathetic. It must hold what? 5 people. when this airport was built it should have been prepared to be one of the buisiest in the world as that is what every airport needs wants. yours sincerly joseph heeley
    ps please look after it!!!!!
